Super Carrot and Merry Potato

Day number 3 of the art challenge is favourite food. My favourite food is curry, but a picture of curry would probably look like a pile of sloppy mud/clay on wood shavings. I tried to draw a loaf of bread since that's food that I enjoy to bake but that ended up not working so well either. In the end I went with veg. Veg is wonderful stuff and most of the time is my favourite part of any meal. Representing vegetables across the world are Super Carrot and Merry Potato.

Not really bothered about this one. It's simple and meh, hopefully tomorrows "favourite place" piece will be better.

SLOTH

So, I'm doing a 30 day art challenge. Or at least I'm going to try and do it. Yesterday I drew myself, today is my favourite animal. Of course, has to be a sloth!

(clicky click for full view)

Bit of a rush job as I only had about 30 minutes to do it but it's better than nothing!

And here's the challenge:

Sketch Dump

Hello internet,

Have some sketches. I've been drawing traditionaly more recently and really enjoying it. Here's a few things from gift art to zoo sketches and some quick things drawn from reference online.

This is my friend Robin French's character Perigold in the (attempted) style of Mouse Guards David Petersen. Gift art for her since she's currently in hospital.

Another of Robin's characters. This is Auriel in MLP style.

A quick sketch after reading some of the Force, dynamic drawing book.

I reaaaaaally like drawing suits, always have. Here's a headless guy.

Zoo sketches:

Mike Mignola hand study, I LOVE HIS HANDS!

Attempting to not be scared of shadows, another guy in a suit...detective style.

Yoga girl from internet reference.

Hopefully more to come!

Gunner

The last old and unfinished piece :)

Merica

Also, I don't think I'm ever going to work on this any more so here's a cleaned up version:

Demon Shakespeare

Remember that guy in the last post called Mouthy? Well...he turned into Demon Shakespeare:

Mouthy

Here's something I'm playing with at the moment. It started off as a big long head shape like the alien design but evolved into this:

Then I wanted to get rid of the original mouth/teeth sketch to work on the new sketch and now it's looking like this:

Should look cooler with the new teeth/mouth shapes.

Threw this together whilst taking a break from animating in my spare time:

Anteater

Started this guy yesterday but didn't have enough time to take it any further. Hoping I can finish him off later after doing some animation work. Here's the sketch:

Hellrush

A quick sketch :) Had some fun trying out the Photoshop CS5 trial. Some lovely new features.

Update:

I just noticed after looking over my blog that for some reason the colours saved completely wrong, here's how they should have been. Now I'm not sure which one I like the most.

Babelab blog - resource

So whilst I don't have heaps of time to draw (iAnimate has started up again) I thought I'd try post some useful content for anyone following this blog who might be interested in drawing appealing women. So this blog seems to be all about drawing appealing pinups but they have some really great tutorials and tips for drawing women in general. Now, I'm not only interested in drawing women but they are more appealing to me than men. I think most people find this, even female artists, it's because of the organic curves. Anyway go check it out but be warned that there's a  little bit of explicit content on there in places.

Womany sketch

Here's the woman sketch thingy with a bit more work. I wanted to keep it as a sketch and not take it very far hence the messiness and lack of a face.

Current WIP

I love digital life drawing. Obviously I'm using a stock image as reference and am not really drawing from life but whatcha gonna do? This is where the sketch is at currently. I should draw more men!

Gun Girl WIP

This is a piece I started ages ago and haven't finished yet, not sure why. I think I'm scared of taking it further with a cool robot behind her - drawing backgrounds and colouring and all that. White canvas syndrome!

Zombie Me Sketch

Sometimes it's just fun to draw yourself as a zombie wrapped in tape.

Pose Sketch

This is something I drew really quickly a while back during a break whilst animating. A quick dynamic pull pose, really enjoyed doing this, I'll have to do more!
